The board was painted in the likeness of a 19th century Navajo Chief blanket made with bayeta - a red-dyed Spanish trade cloth made of Turkish wool. The Navajos raveled this cloth, using the thread to painstakingly produce the finest, most durable blankets. Matthew LaRubbio is a native Texan - currently living in Missoula, Montana.
