OnDeck 6 – May 21st, 2011

The MSA is hosed the 6th annual ON DECK skate art auction on May 21 at The Brink Gallery in Missoula.

ON DECK 6 UPDATE!

We raised $8,835 in one evening…all of which will be applied to building/maintaining and promoting various skateparks in Montana.  Three cheers to everyone involved!!

New Location / New Format

We mixed it up a bit this year, and are very excited about how things shook out. For ON DECK 6, the decks included were on display for 2 weeks, allowing folks more time to view the collection of art.  Having this time for people to get up close and personal with the work was a no brainer, and we are stoked that things went so smoothly. This is primarily due to the awesomeness that is coming our way from Jen at The Brink Gallery.

Having ON DECK at The Brink is like spending Saturday in front of the TV with a large pizza and a stack of zombie movies…totally awesome. So, on May 6, instead of being focused on setting up a show, hosting the auction and taking it all down a few hours later, everyone got to enjoy some casual hang-out time.

Better Auction Format

We also implemented a new online auction format for ON DECK 6. In the past we required that people register new accounts and bid online prior to the actual event.  This year, bidding was less formal and happened both online (here on our site) and in “real life” at The Brink Gallery. Our team kept things in sync and the current high bid was always listed on the website and in the gallery, regardless of how/where it was placed.

Killer Poster Design

We are so stoked that artist Matt LaRubbio (who also had a deck in the auction) designed and printed our poster this year. Big thanks to you Mr. LaRubbio!
